SWA 360: Kirsten Dunst x BULLETT Magazine
April 1, 2013 10:07 AMKirsten Dunst is BULLETT Magazine's Spring covergirl. In an editorial shot by Frederik Heyman, the UpsideDown star showcases the latest collection from California couturier, Rodarte, while navigating a futuristic set of smoke and mirrors. Starworks Artists handled all aspects of the actresses beauty story, making Kirsten Dunst the newest edition to our Starworks360 club!
Below we have styling notes from hairstylist Adir Abergel, makeup artist Kate Lee and fashion stylist Cher Coulter who worked on the project.
This was a dream job! Not only was it a pleasure to work with Kirsten Dunst, who in my eyes is a fashion icon and brilliant actress, but it was exciting to be up close and personal with so much of the Spring Rodarte collection. On top of this, BULLETT Magazine is one of the most innovative magazine on new stands right now.
Starworks Artists fashion stylist Cher Coulter
My inspiration came from the days of grunge during the early-90s. I gave Kirsten's hair a great wet & shiny 2nd-day look, slicked back on one side. I allowed the rest of the hair to fall around the slicked back section which gave the look a very modern graphic look. All the clothing for the shoot was from Rodarte's latest collection. The look I created was a very strong look that played very well with the lines of the clothing.
Starworks Artists hairstylist Adir Abergel
The set on the shoot for Bullett Magazine was pretty impressive, featuring a lot of mirrors, rock and steel. The overall feel was industrial and somewhat space age. Most of what you see in the pictures was not there on the day we shot so I was really excited to see the final pictures. I think they look amazing!
Because the set was so cool toned, I wanted to embrace Kirsten as the only color on set. Her hair is a great variation of blond and I decided that a bronze/gold metallic liquid eye would be the perfect look for this shoot. I kept the rest of the face very neutral but defined and asked that the colour of her eye shadow be kept "true" even if the skin was being desaturated in the picture.
