KATE LEE / MAKE-UP

Growing up in London during the inspirational 1980’s with a passion for music and fashion, Kate Lee was in the perfect place to become one of the world’s leading make-up artists. Surrounded by some of the most original and celebrated fashion and photographic talent of our times, Kate studied beauty and specialist make-up at the London College of Fashion alongside such luminaries as Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney and Luella Bartley.

Immediately after graduating from LCF, Kate started working with photographers such as Rankin, David Bailey, Corinne Day and Lorenzo Agius. She was a regular contributor to magazines such as The Face, Dazed and Confused and i-D. In addition to her editorial work, Kate also did six years of catwalk make-up in Paris, Milan and New York. Working alongside Val Garland and Linda Cantello she was a regular backstage on shows including Givenchy, Alexander McQueen and Lanvin.

It was the magazine shoots that first brought Kate to Los Angeles. Working with then-rising British actresses such as Kate Winslet, Emily Mortimer and Rosamund Pike, it was only natural that Kate would travel west to the US with her clients.

Thanks to her natural ability and years of experience, Kate is now firmly established as one of LA’s most in-demand make-up artists, working regularly on location and on the red carpet with many clients including Rooney Mara, Keira Knightley, Sienna Miller, Anne Hathaway, Penelope Cruz and Bryce Dallas Howard.

Editorial work is still one of Kate’s favorites due to the variety it offers, and there is no shortage of credits for her work in popular magazines. Kate has worked for Vogue, Purple, InStyle, Bazaar, Elle and Marie Claire as well as acclaimed photographers Annie Leibovitz, Ellen Von Unwerth, Paola Kudacki and Terry Richardson on a regular basis.

Kate continues to live and work in Los Angeles, where she lends her talents to Chanel as a celebrity make-up artist.
