MARA ROSZAK / HAIR
Mara Roszak was just 16 years old when she enrolled in the Marinello Beauty School to hone her creative skills. Growing up in the Laurel Canyon area of Los Angeles, Mara had always been exposed to the diversity of aesthetics that a city like LA offers. Her mother was an artist, primarily a sculptor, and encouraged Mara to explore visual beauty in a multitude of ways. During her tenure at Marinello, Mara quickly became acquainted with one of her beauty school colleagues who was also a receptionist at the Chris McMillan Salon. Little did she know that this connection would assist in landing one of the biggest breaks of her career. After being at Marinello for only a short time, Mara stood out among her classmates as one of the strongest and most promising students. Her friend from the Chris McMillan Salon was so impressed with her performance that he recommended to Chris that he take the time to meet with her to discuss her interests and goals. After meeting with Mara, it was clear to Chris that she was the real deal. He hired her on the spot.
By 17, she received a call from a friend who happened to be an agency publicist for several notable actors. She was asked if she was available to style Sarah Michelle Gellar’s hair for a movie premiere and she quickly jumped on board. She has been working with Sarah ever since.
Mara credits her love for fashion and hair to a variety of factors. In addition to the creative talents cultivated by her mother, Mara derives her artistic motivation from her interest in being a part of a creative concept. She loves being able to collaborate on a project that is visually stimulating. Her inspiration also comes from working on projects that are very different from one another. Each person and each project are unique and that is what keeps Mara engaged.
Mara has built an impressive client list, including Emma Stone, Mila Kunis, Zoe Saldana, and Kat Dennings. She has also worked with many publications, most notably W Magazine, Jalouse, Flaunt, Glamour, Teen Vogue and many more. She hopes to solidify herself even more in the years to come as an artist. Mara currently works at the Andy LeCompte Salon in Los Angeles. She says the secret to her success is loving what she does and keeping an open mind.
